“I want to help people grow professionally and achieve their personal dreams,” says Kim. “With my current role as Portfolio Projects Manager, I get to do a lot of mentorship and coaching, and I love it. I just really want to see our teams thrive.”
Kim talks about seeing a parallel between teaching her adult students at Oklahoma Wesleyan University and coaching her team members. Both roles allow her to invest in other people’s lives and help them develop toward whatever they want to be, and both remind her of the mentorship she received early on in her H&P Journey that sparked a career transition in her life.
Initially working as a contractor, Kim’s experiences with H&P’s service attitude led her to accept a full-time position three years ago, and now she wants to be the kind of leader that drew her to the company in the first place.
“I have never had this kind of supportive leadership at any of the other companies I had worked for,” she explains. “Managers who seek and provide constructive feedback and are open to their team member’s ideas and experiences are not very common anywhere other than at H&P.”
Service attitude comes as second nature to Kim, whose lifelong goal is to help others. The ability to guide her team and provide them with the training opportunities to help them achieve their professional and personal goals motivates her daily.
Although managing H&P’s projects from start to finish is not without its share of difficulties, Kim enjoys working alongside her team of project managers to identify the root causation of a project issue and develop practical solutions to address and solve any problem that threatens to derail the company’s goals. When asked, she proudly states that if she could work at any company or in any department, she would choose H&P and the Enterprise Program Management Office team every time.
“H&P has been by far the best company I’ve ever worked for,” says Kim. “I’m grateful to be a part of my team of awesome project managers, and I’m grateful to be a part of its growth.”
